Dust filters and HEPA filters for air handling

Dust filters stop fine and coarse dust in ventilation air and process air. If odour or gas has to come out of the air as well, there are filters that combine dust filtration and carbon.

Filter classes under ISO 16890

Air filters are classified under ISO 16890, in the classes ePM1, ePM2.5, ePM10 and ISO Coarse. The standard was published at the end of 2016 and replaced EN 779; by mid-2018 the change was complete. Do you only know an old class, such as F7? Feel free to give it in your request. See Filter classes.

Filter types

  • Bag filters. From class G3 up to F9, in glass fibre or synthetic material, in almost any size.
  • Compact filters and electrostatic filters. For air handling.
  • Panel filters. For air handling, including as a pre-filter.
  • Bag and compact filters with carbon media. Dust and odour in one filter. See Activated carbon filters.
  • HEPA filters. See below.

Both standard and non-standard sizes are possible. In your quote request, give the size of the current filter, the class and the number you need.

HEPA filters for air handling

HEPA filters capture very fine and ultrafine particles. In Europe, HEPA, EPA and ULPA filters are classified under EN 1822. A HEPA filter in this range handles up to 4,000 m³/h per filter and has standardised dimensions. There are standard filter housings and safe-change housings.

For a HEPA filter, we ask for the flow rate, the size of the filter housing and the class your application or your client requires.

Dust and gas in one installation

An air handling unit can hold a pre-filter, modules with carbon or chemical media, and a final filter in sequence. See Filter installations.

Frequently asked questions

Does a dust filter also stop odour?

No. Gases and odour pass through a dust filter. For that you need a carbon filter or a chemical filter, or a bag or compact filter with carbon media.
